In response to the incident, Mumbai Police has formed ten special teams to track down the perpetrators. The investigation team includes renowned encounter specialist Daya Nayak, who was seen reviewing details of the case. Known for his significant role in combating the Mumbai underworld, Daya Nayak has conducted around 80 encounters in his career. His life has also inspired several Bollywood films, reflecting his fearless and controversial career.
As per sources online, Daya Nayak’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of Mumbai’s most recognized officers is nothing short of inspiring. Born in Udupi, Karnataka, to parents Bada Nayak and Radha Nayak, he studied in a Kannada-medium school up to the seventh grade. In 1979, he moved to Mumbai in search of work. His first job was in a hotel, where he would study on the rooftop while working.
He later completed his 12th grade at a municipal school in Mumbai and graduated from CES College, Andheri. His aspiration to join the police force was ignited during his college years when he met officers from the Narcotics Department. After graduating from the Police Academy in 1995, he was posted as a sub-inspector at Juhu Police Station, during a time when the Mumbai underworld was at its peak.
While Daya Nayak’s career has been marked by achievements, it has not been without controversy. He has faced allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his income. Despite this, his reputation as a skilled and effective officer remains intact.
